Writing this book was an extraordinary exercise in sharing the knowledge that I have acquired regarding the African-descent hair and scalp. During this journey of learning the science of the hair and scalp, and in particular the science of the African-descent hair and scalp, many people have contributed to my knowledge over the years. I must acknowledge the African-American, African-European, and Brazilian hairstylists who persuaded me to think more about all textures of hair around the world.
During my lectures to hairstylists in general, the questions posed were always instrumental in refining my understanding about textured hair. I also want to acknowledge independent African-American distributors in the United States for their support, collaboration, and furtherance of my career, not just as a chemist but also as an entrepreneur.
